De arriba abajo: plumilla i acuarela, lápices, pincel i aguada, trama con plumilla

Alter working hard with computer for too long, I needed to work using only my hands, paper, colors, eraser… I’m learning too much how to color using “the binary code” but I really need to practice manual techniques, they are those that make me feel well.
From top to bottom: pen and watercolor, pencils, brush and ink, pen and ink.

For me, there is nothing that can compare to using traditional tools of the trade. Computers can be very convenient of course, but I always feel as though I'm one step removed from the process when I use a piece of software to draw. I just love to be able to feel the paper under my hand and watch the ink flow from my pen.

These are wonderful, and I love that you included four versions. Each one is beautiful, but my favorite is the brush and ink. I wish I had the ability to do this, because the result is just gorgeous.

Great work!

Jason I'm absolutely agree with you. I feel the same when I work with computer, although I think I managed to color in a way that it's no cold (it was my personal fight). The same as you, I love to feel the paper under my fingers, and at the end of the day realize that I have some ink and watercolor stains on my hands (uf, sorry for my english Shakespeare!). Thanks for dropping by, your comments are very important to me: an illustrator is somebody who works alone and always is thinking "is my work enough good???"

Oh your work is definitely good enough Roger! I'd love to have as much talent as you.

Thanks Jason, and I'd love to be as witty as you!

I have the same problem with my old works Justdoodleit, I see flaws everywhere... (may be I'm a little obsessed? Definitively yes, but it's part of our profession)
By the way, the four versions are made by hand
Thanks!

Oooops! Sorry Roger I meant traditional media presented through computer techniques....was half asleep when I typed this "in both digital and computer techniques"...of course they are hand made and are very beautiful!

Estem d'acord, i aviat ho demostraré!

This is just charming, the melancholy Lighthouse keeper with the temporary comfort of a hot cup of tea or coffee. I love the way the mist in the background is implied so simply by fading out the color.

Thanks ArtSparker! I like very much your comment, I think you have found the essence of the illustration.

I like the last one the best. They are all really good.

Very nice works you have here on your blog!
Like this post a lot, as you're doing 4 different styles and technique versions for one idea of illo.
Glad that you show the pencil sketch and the finished colored ones on some of your posts!
